Guy Vitaglione, a researcher at West Virginia's Institute of Technology, claims that five days after NASCAR races there is a spike in traffic accidents involving multiple cars with the cause listed as aggressive driving, according to an interview conducted on NPR. Vitaglione believes the connection might have been responsible for as many as 650 extra accidents last year in West Virginia.
